Baked apple chips are cheap and easy to make at home. These crispy apple chips are awesome snacks while watching your favorite sports or World Cup. Great potato chips alternative without all the fat, sodium and other unhealthy stuffs.

Why Apples

An apple a day…but why apple. In a USDA-funded study done by Florida State University, a group of women were given 75g/day of dried apple for 1 year. Despite the extra 240 calories taken from the dried fruit, participant lost on average 3.3 lbs possibly due the fruit’s pectin in apple. They also experienced 23% decrease in LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol) and 4% increase of HDL cholesterol or good cholesterol.

 

Baked Apple Chips with Cinnamon | Dietplan-101

Homemade crispy baked apple chips. Great potato chips alternative.

Ingredients:

  • 2 Apples
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 230°F or 110°C.
  • Wash apple and slice thin (1-2 mm).
  • Coat apple with cinnamon and salt.
  • Bake apple in preheat oven for 1 hour, flip and bake for another 1 hour or until crispy.

Tips: Use Mandoline Slicer for uniform and thin slice. Use baking sheet or the chips will stuck to the pan
